Philippians 2:5-7 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: (6)Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: (7)But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.
When Carol and I first got married we didn’t necessarily like all the same foods. Carol’s cooking skills had not been fully developed and there were certain foods that she couldn’t or wouldn’t cook. One of the foods she wouldn’t cook was cabbage. She didn’t like the smell of it and said she wouldn’t eat it. She even told me if I wanted to eat it I could go to Mother’s house when she cooked it. After years of convincing her that it was good my wife has grown to love cabbage and it is one of her favorite dishes to cook today. Something new is not always bad. Jesus could have come as a conquering King but He took on the form of a servant. Instead of heading out the door today thinking about what you can get out of the world, try taking on the form of a servant and see what kind of day you have. Find a way to help somebody, provide an unexpected service for someone, or just open a door for somebody and see if you are not blessed by your service. May we all take on the form of a servant is my prayer.
