Watermelons or Turnip Greens

Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

One of my Dad’s favorite things to eat was watermelon. Buying one in the summer, icing it down, and eating it outside was one of our families small pleasures. Of course my Dad would tease me and my brother and tell us to be careful and not eat the seeds because if we did watermelons would grow out of our ears. We would just laugh and tell him that was impossible, but when it comes to seeds Dad wasn’t distorting the truth by much. Seeds are powerful growth machines that will grow just about anywhere, given the chance. When our family would eat watermelon in the back yard, we would spit the seeds in the grass and eventually those seeds would take root and sprout up. Dad even allowed one of those plants to grow until it yielded a watermelon. The principle of seed sowing is one of God’s most powerful principles. We could say it this way, “what you sow is what you get”. To get watermelons, you have to sow watermelons; to get turnip greens, you have to sow turnip greens. The question is what kind of harvest do we want. This principle works in every area of life; if you want love, sow love, if you sow anger, you will reap anger. If we sow joy, we will reap joy; if we sow sorrow and pain, we will reap sorrow and pain. I say, we choose our harvest wisely and sow seeds accordingly. May we all be Godly life farmers is my prayer.
