2Timothy 2:11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with Him, we shall also live with Him.

When the first sin was committed in the garden the first thing God did was to kill an animal and cloth Adam and Eve with it’s skin. The principle was set in place at that first sin event that for something to live, something has to die. To fulfill the Old Testament sacrificial system, when Jesus earthly ministry was complete, He willingly gave His life on the cross so that all the world might be saved. By receiving Christ as savior and allowing His shed blood to purge us of our sins we can now be saved from our sins that separated us from God. Our part in the salvation covenant is to die to ourself. For us to live spiritually we must die to our selfish desires, lusts, and sins. We must allow Christ to make us into a new creature. May we die to everything that keeps us from God’s best and allow Christ to lead us into abundant life is my prayer.
