Wise Men Still Seek Him

Matthew 2:1, 2 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem. (2) Saying, Where is He that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the east, and are come to worship Him.

A while back I pulled up to a house and there in the front lawn stood a Christmas sign all by itself. The sign depicted three wise men and said, “Wise Men Still Seek Him”. If it had been Christmas time it would have been perfectly normal, but it was August and it was the only decoration in the yard. I contemplated why the homeowner would have left one Christmas decoration in their yard all year long and decided that they were obviously trying to get the message across. So, I asked myself, do I really still seek Him? Am I actively and regularly seeking God’s presence? The three wise men in the Christmas story traveled from the far east to find Jesus. I’m wondering if we will just stop long enough to say a prayer of thanksgiving and worship to Jesus. He is no longer in a manger in Bethlehem, He is as close as our heart and as accessible as a spoken prayer. May we all seek the Christ of Christmas daily is my prayer.
